MINUTES of SCINA Meeting - Sunday, September 20, 2020
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA INTERGROUP OF NICOTINE ANONYMOUS (SCINA)
INTRODUCTIONS: George O. called the meeting to order at 10:00 am with the Serenity Prayer followed by introductions.
WAS YOUR MEETING REPRESENTED? Quorum was met with 7 members in attendance. The following meetings were represented: West Hollywood 001, Silverlake 229, Laguna Beach 257 and Palm Desert 286.
TRADITIONS: Tradition #9, “Nicotine Anonymous, as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve.” was read.

REGISTRAR REPORT: No changes were made to the Administration List. No meetings were added or removed. Meeting 001, West Hollywood, video conference call information updated. Meeting 257, Thursday, Laguna Beach, Meeting ID and passcode updated for change starting October 1. Meeting 273, Sunday, Sherman Oaks, passcode added. All Meetings have USPS contact through their Secretary, their Representative, or email. No H&I Listings were added, updated or removed. 37 envelopes were addressed, and 40 Directories were printed.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:

COMMUNICATIONS: George O. will follow-up with San Diego to vote on discontinuing the grasshopper phone line. We can vote on this next month.
LITERATURE: Go-Daddy was renewed through the literature account. George sent $21.17 to renew the SCINA.org domain name. Angela will find out bulk price for the new Sponsorship Literature from NAWS for ordering. The current balance in the literature account is $700.60
WORLD SERVICES: New Ad Hoc Committee was created to address group inventory and create a safety card. The next NAWS board meeting is Saturday, October 17 at 8 am.
EVENTS: The Joshua Tree Retreat was held online August 22-23 via Zoom. We had 35-40 people attending at once. We assume most of the generous donations were due to the Retreat. Thank you.
NEW MEETINGS: No report.
PUBLIC OUTREACH: If anyone is willing to take on or share the Public Outreach position, please contact John D. at (818) 618-1501. We need more help with Intergroup outreach. Send your Meeting Representative to the Intergroup meetings to tell us how we can help you. The point of contact is needed. If your meeting has been interrupted due to the shutdown, please see our meeting list for meetings which are still getting together online and conference calls.

BYLAWS: No new business.
WEB OPERATIONS: Rick W. continues sporadically working on the design of the web page. The initial page has been changed to a new picture. Content is being checked and updated as needed to reflect the effects of the response to the pandemic.
OLD BUSINESS: No old business.
NEW BUSINESS: Discussion regarding purchasing an annual Zoom membership at $149.90 would give us a 17% discount versus $14.99/month which totals $179.88. Motion was made and passed to purchase a yearly membership.
Officer elections: Elections were not held because of limited interest. Current Officers will continue their positions. If anyone is interested in taking on one of these positions, please attend SCINA meetings.
BIRTHDAYS: No birthdays this month.
SECRETARY REPORT: September minutes were read, corrected and approved.
CLOSING PRAYER: George O. led us in the Serenity Prayer at 11:15 am.
