MINUTES of SCINA Meeting - Sunday, November 17, 2019
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA INTERGROUP OF NICOTINE ANONYMOUS (SCINA)
INTRODUCTIONS: George O. called the meeting to order at 10:10 am with the Serenity Prayer followed by introductions.
WAS YOUR MEETING REPRESENTED? Quorum was met with 8 members in attendance. The following meetings were represented: Long Beach 012, Silverlake 229, Long Beach 231, Laguna Beach 257, and Studio City 273.
TRADITIONS: Tradition #11, “Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, television, and films.” was read.
CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT: No report at this time.
TREASURER’S REPORT:

Current available $4,903.92
We leave $3,000 in the checking account so that we avoid the $18/month bank fee. That means we have $1,903.92. George R still needs to be reimbursed for the picnic. This account needs to reimburse the Literature account for paying $100.99 to renew our scina.org domain name. SCINA will send out donations request flyer.
There was discussion about sending a donation to World Services and also about using money for another Public Outreach event. According to our Bylaws, we need to send anything over our prudent reserve of $500 to World Services. There was discussion about changing the bylaws to have a prudent reserve of 6 months instead. A flyer will be included to notify members of the upcoming vote to change the Bylaws. A donation to World Services was tabled for next month.
REGISTRAR REPORT: No changes were made to the Administration List. No meetings were added. Meeting 229, Phone Contact information updated. No Meetings were removed. All Meetings have USPS contact through their Secretary, their Representative, or email. No H&I Listings were added, updated or removed. 37 envelopes were addressed, and 90 Directories were printed.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:

COMMUNICATIONS: The phone lines are running smoothly. No concerns at this time. For more information, or to be of service, please call George O. at (562) 310-0874.
LITERATURE: We need someone to take over the Literature position at SCINA. Please consult your Higher Power, and if interested, please contact George O. at (562) 310-0874 or come to one of our Intergroup meetings. The current balance in the literature account is $700.47.
WORLD SERVICES: No report this month.
EVENTS: The annual Marathon Meetings event will be on Saturday, November 23, 2019. It will be at the Intercity Fellowship Hall in Long Beach from 9 am - 7 pm. Coffee and water will be available. The address is 5881 Cherry Ave., Long Beach, CA. Note: To volunteer to host a meeting, please contact Joseph at (562) 644-5225.
NEW MEETINGS: If you want to start a new meeting, you can find information and receive a free packet at www.nicotine-anonymous.org.
PUBLIC OUTREACH: If anyone is willing to take on or share the Public Outreach position, please contact John D. at (818) 618-1501. We need more help with Intergroup outreach. It is important to have a representative at the Intergroup meetings to tell us how we can help. The point of contact is needed.

OLD BUSINESS: John D. proposed a new Intergroup meeting location. We don’t need to move at this time, but we might need to in the near future. Intercity Fellowship Hall in Long Beach has a room we could use for $25 for 2.5 hours.
NEW BUSINESS: November is Carry The Message month.
BIRTHDAYS: Greg S of Studio City mtg. and Anthony of Long Beach celebrate this month. Happy Birthday!
SECRETARY REPORT: November Minutes were read and corrected. Motion was made to approve the October and November Minutes.
