MINUTES of SCINA Meeting - Sunday, February 21, 2021
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA INTERGROUP OF NICOTINE ANONYMOUS (SCINA)
INTRODUCTIONS: George O. called the meeting to order at 10:00 am with the Serenity Prayer followed by introductions.
WAS YOUR MEETING REPRESENTED? Quorum was met with 7 members in attendance. The following meetings were represented: West Hollywood 001, Silverlake 229, Laguna Beach 257, Studio City 273, Palm Desert 286, and Palm Springs 288.
TRADITIONS: Tradition #2, “For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority - a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern.” was read.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
No report this month.
REGISTRAR REPORT: No changes were made to the Administration List. No Meetings were added or removed. Joshua Tree Virtual Meeting information updated on the Website. All Meetings have USPS contact through their Secretary, their Representative, or email. No H&I Listings were added or updated. American Lung Association, San Bernardino is held pending new contact information. 36 envelopes were addressed, and 40 Directories were printed. When changes are required to the printed version of our meeting list, the deadline to submit corrections is the 10th each month.

COMMUNICATIONS: No concerns at this time, any questions or concerns can be directed to SCINAinfo@gmail.com. We are now printing the NAWS 800 number on our meeting lists. 1-877-879-6422 or 1-877-TRY-NICA.
LITERATURE: No report. The current balance in the literature account is $721.77.
WORLD SERVICES: The 36th Annual Nicotine Anonymous World Services Conference will be held April 9-11, 2021 via Zoom. Registration of $20 is now open at nicawsc2021.homestead.com, where you can also find a schedule of events for the weekend. There will be a Gratitude Meeting on Friday night, Speaker Meeting Saturday night, and a Sunrise Meeting as well as Spiritual Speaker on Sunday. Workshops will be held Saturday to consider approving three new pieces of literature: (1) An all-new 365-day meditation book; (2) a vaping brochure; (3) Meeting Etiquette Card. SCINA is allowed 7 delegates -- delegates will be asked to review the 365-page meditation book in March, and all comments will be reviewed and integrated during the workshop. If you are available to serve as a Zoom room monitor that weekend (look for raised hands, watch out for zoom bombers), please contact Bill H. chairperson@nicotine-anonymous.org.
A vote was called on delegates to represent SCINA at the Conference, JudiAh D., George O., Jane H., Alan C., and Angela P., were approved. The 2 additional delegates will be approved by 2/28/21.
EVENTS: The Joshua Tree Retreat is tentatively scheduled for June 25-27, 2021; however, we cannot issue a flyer yet because we need to wait and see how the COVID numbers go. It will depend on what restrictions are placed on the retreat center in regard to social distancing, etc., and we will need to print guidelines on the flyer. We may need to reschedule later in the summer/early Fall.
NEW MEETINGS: No new meetings.
PUBLIC OUTREACH: If anyone is willing to take on or share the Public Outreach position, please contact John D. at (818) 618-1501. We need more help with Intergroup outreach. Send your Meeting Representative to the Intergroup meetings to tell us how we can help you. The point of contact is needed. If your meeting has been interrupted due to the shutdown, please see our meeting list for meetings which are still getting together online and conference calls.

BYLAWS: No report.
WEB OPERATIONS: It was noted that www.SCINA.org domain name is not valid at this time, however SCINA.org will link directly to our www.QuitNowLA.com site. The posted and printed Directories have the updated link. Content is being checked and updated as needed to reflect the effects of the response to the pandemic.
Over the past month, statistics show 184 visits, down 39%, 195 unique visitors, down 37%, and 349 page views, down 40%. The top pages viewed were Virtual Meeting Quick Reference (76), Google Calendar (75) and Meeting List (49).
OLD BUSINESS: No old business.
NEW BUSINESS: No new business.
BIRTHDAYS: Richard S. celebrates 4 years, Kenny M. celebrates 15 years, Joyce C. celebrates 20 years, Rick W. celebrates 23 years and Brian K. celebrates 13 years.
SECRETARY REPORT: February minutes were read, corrected and approved.
CLOSING PRAYER: Jane H. led us in the Serenity Prayer at 10:45 am.
