MINUTES of SCINA Meeting - Sunday, March 21, 2021
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA INTERGROUP OF NICOTINE ANONYMOUS (SCINA)
INTRODUCTIONS: George O. called the meeting to order at 10:02 am with the Serenity Prayer followed by introductions.
WAS YOUR MEETING REPRESENTED? Quorum was met with 7 members in attendance. The following meetings were represented: West Hollywood 001, Laguna Beach 257, Studio City 273, Palm Desert 286, and Palm Springs 288.
TRADITIONS: Tradition #3, “The only requirement for Nicotine Anonymous membership is a desire to stop using nicotine.” was read.
TREASURER’S REPORT:

REGISTRAR REPORT: No changes were made to the Administration List. No Meetings were added or removed. Palm Springs Monday Evening Virtual Meeting information checked and missing listing in the Virtual Meeting Quick Reference was added. All Meetings have USPS contact through their Secretary, their Representative, or email. No H&I Listings were added, updated or removed. 36 envelopes were addressed, and 40 Directories were printed. When changes are required to the printed version of our meeting list, the deadline to submit corrections is the 10th each month.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:

COMMUNICATIONS: No concerns at this time, any questions or concerns can be directed to SCINAinfo@gmail.com. We are now printing the NAWS 800 number on our meeting lists. 1-877-879-6422 or 1-877-TRY-NICA.
LITERATURE: No report. The current balance in the literature account is $721.77.
WORLD SERVICES: The 36th Annual Nicotine Anonymous World Services (NAWS) Conference will be April 9-11, 2021 via Zoom. Registration of $20 is now open at nicawsc2021.homestead.com, where you can also find a schedule of events for the weekend. Delegates representing SCINA at the 2021 Conference, JudiAh D., George O., Jane H., Alan C., Jeff M., Val L., and Angela P. Current NAWS Officers are also allowed to vote which includes Bill H., John D., and Angie B., so SoCal is well represented at this year’s conference. NAWS now accept donations via Zelle and Venmo: Zelle: nicaofficemanager@gmail.com and Venmo: @NAWS-Office (account name is NAWS Office). NAWS will send out a bylaws template for Intergroups after the World Conference is over. This template will help guide Intergroups in creating/amending its bylaws.
EVENTS: The Joshua Tree Retreat Center is currently closed. Although it may re-open in June, we will almost certainly reschedule our event from June to late Summer/early Fall, or we may decide to do it virtual again this year.
NEW MEETINGS: No new meetings.
PUBLIC OUTREACH: If anyone is willing to take on or share the Public Outreach position, please contact John D. at (818) 618-1501. We need more help with Intergroup outreach. Send your Meeting Representative to the Intergroup meetings to tell us how we can help you. The point of contact is needed. If your meeting has been interrupted due to the shutdown, please see our meeting list for meetings which are still getting together online and conference calls. John D. will work with NAWS to get pre-approved Tweets and Facebook posts so that he can send them regularly. John D. will report back next month with what he will post. The request will be to post about the 12 steps, 12 traditions, SCINA’s meetings, and 1 general post per month.

BYLAWS: No report.
WEB OPERATIONS: It was noted that www.SCINA.org domain name is not valid at this time, however SCINA.org will link directly to our www.QuitNowLA.com site. The posted and printed Directories have the updated link. Content is being checked and updated as needed to reflect the effects of the response to the pandemic.
Over the past month, statistics show 139 visits, and 279 page views. The top pages viewed were Virtual Meeting Quick Reference (55), the Meeting List (49), and Google Calendar (36).
OLD BUSINESS: No old business.
NEW BUSINESS: No new business.
BIRTHDAYS: Angela P. 17 years; John D. 8 years! Happy Birthday!
SECRETARY REPORT: March minutes were read, corrected and approved.
