MINUTES of SCINA Meeting - June 17, 2018
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA INTERGROUP OF NICOTINE ANONYMOUS (SCINA)
INTRODUCTIONS: Angie B. called the meeting to order at 10:07 AM with the Serenity Prayer followed by introductions.
WAS YOUR MEETING REPRESENTED? Quorum was met with 7 members in attendance. The following meetings were represented (some members might represent more than one meeting): Costa Mesa 76, Fullerton 84, Sherman Oaks 185, Silverlake 229, and Long Beach 231.
TRADITIONS: Tradition #6, “A Nicotine Anonymous group ought never endorse, finance, or lend the Nicotine Anonymous name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property, and prestige divert us from our primary purpose.” was read.
TREASURER REPORT: No report. Gary M. was unable to attend the meeting.
REGISTRAR REPORT: No changes were made on the Administration List. No Meeting information was updated, and no meetings were added or removed. All Meetings have USPS contact through their Secretary, their Representative, or email. No H&I Listings were updated or removed. 3 email H&I Listings were added: Sharp Rees-Stealy Center for Health Management was added with two contacts, and Kaiser Permanente San Diego was added with one contact. 42 envelopes were addressed, and 100 Directories were printed.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
HOSPITALS AND INSTITUTIONS: Angela P. still only has 2 people who have offered to help with panel requests. For more information or to be of service, please call Angela P. at (949) 302-8465.
COMMUNICATIONS: The phone lines are running smoothly. No concerns at this time.
LITERATURE: Board of Directors authorizes Brian Kavanaugh to be added to the Union Bank account for Southern California Nicotine Anonymous.
WORLD SERVICES: Gary M. was unable to attend the meeting. No report.
EVENTS: The 19th Annual SCINA-sponsored Nicotine Anonymous Retreat was held last week in Joshua Tree with 25 members in attendance. The weekend included many hikes, workshops, meetings, food, fellowship, and pool time. According to Event Co-Chair, Bill H.’s records, our income was $4,065 with expenses of $3,925 for a modest profit of $140! Treasurer Gary M. still needs to verify these results and will report next month. The annual picnic is Sunday, September 16 in Rush Park, in Rossmoor. The Intergroup meeting will be at 10:00 am and the picnic will start at 11:00 am.
NEW MEETINGS: There are no new meetings.
PUBLIC OUTREACH: Angie B. was given some information on a Conference for medical professionals who work with young adults in hopes we could offer information on our program, She thinks it was the end of July and is going to be held in Malibu. Please contact Angie B. if you can help. (562) 505-9911.

BYLAWS: No report.
SAN DIEGO OUTREACH AD HOC COMMITTEE: No report.
WORLD CONFERENCE AD HOC COMMITTEE: The committee did not select a hotel yet. This will be discussed at our June meeting. The committee meets at 11:30 am on the 3rd Sunday every month immediately following SCINA’s Regular Monthly Meeting. We need your help in planning the Conference. Please contact the Chair of the World Conference Ad Hoc Committee, John D., at johndarnell8@gmail.com or by phone at (818) 618-1501. We will be needing volunteers. The Conference will be held May 3-5, 2019.
Director of Web Operations: No report.
OLD BUSINESS: John D and Chad from NAWS had a meeting to go over how to use WebEx for SCINA meetings. This will be discussed next month, because John D. was not able to attend today’s meeting.
NEW BUSINESS: No new business.

SECRETARY REPORT: Motion was made and approved for this month’s Minutes.
