WORLD SERVICES: The Nicotine Anonymous World Conference will be held in New York, April 20-22, 2018. See our website for more information: www.scina.org. Motion was made, and unanimously approved for the following delegates to represent SCINA at the world conference. They are: Angie B., JudiAh D., Rodger F., George O., Bill H., and Jeff M. We are allowed to have up to seven delegates to represent SCINA at the world conference. If you are attending, and would like to be a delegate, please let Gary M. know at garynica@att.net.
EVENTS: The annual Joshua Tree Retreat will be June 8-10, 2018. Bill H. and Jane H. are the event co-chairs. Flyer will be emailed and mailed with this month’s minutes. Please RSVP soon. Every year, there are a few members who RSVP and pay at the last minute. This makes it very difficult for the event planners to set up the event.
NEW MEETINGS: Gary reported he has not been contacted during the past month about any new meetings.
PUBLIC OUTREACH: No update.
SPEAKERS LIST: Invite a speaker to your meeting. Call for a list (949) 302-8465.
BYLAWS: No report.
SAN DIEGO OUTREACH AD HOC COMMITTEE: No update.
WORLD CONFERENCE AD HOC COMMITTEE: This committee held an in-person meeting on Sunday, January 21. A few days after this committee meeting, Nicotine Anonymous World Services voted to approve SCINA’s proposal to host the 2019 World Conference. The next SCINA World Conference Ad Hoc Committee will have discussion on creating a flyer for the event, event theme, discussion on duties of planning the world conference, and report on potential hotels to host. We need your help in planning the conference. Please contact the Chair of the World Conference Ad Hoc Committee, John D., at johndarnell8@gmail.com or by phone at (818) 618-1501.
Director of Web Operations: No report.
OLD BUSINESS: No old business.
NEW BUSINESS: SCINA would like to have the ability for members to call in to SCINA’s Regular Meeting every month. We will do research on the cost of a conference call phone, and VOIP phone service (internet phone service), so we can have the ability of members to call in case they cannot attend in-person. We do not get cell reception in the room where we have our meetings at White Memorial Medical Center so we must use VOIP phone service.
BIRTHDAYS: Rick W. (8 years), Audrey (1 year), Rick W. (20 years), Angie B. (1 year), Gregory B. (12 years), Ardis (20 years).
SECRETARY REPORT: Motion was made to approve the minutes. It was approved.
CLOSING PRAYER: Richard W. led us in the Serenity Prayer at 11:22 AM.
